Naval Architect/Project Engineer
- On-site, Hybrid
- Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
- €3,800 - €5,300 per month
Job description
Are you a Naval Architect who enjoys bringing structure to complex construction challenges? Do you like owning projects from start to finish, coordinating people and priorities, and ensuring high-quality outcomes? Are you excited about applying your expertise in a wide variety of on- and offshore construction projects? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for you!
Foundations of Your Job
As a Naval Architect / Project Engineer, you are responsible for the successful delivery of jack-up and naval projects from concept to completion. You are the person who brings structure, clarity and direction to complex engineering challenges. While contributing technically yourself, you also ensure projects remain organized, priorities are clear, stakeholders are aligned and deliverables are completed on time and at the expected quality level.
You will join a small team of specialists working directly alongside one of the industry's leading jack-up experts, with over 30 years of experience in the design, assessment and upgrade of jack-up vessels worldwide.
Our Jack-up & Naval team combines world-class jack-up expertise with practical offshore installation engineering and naval architecture. Typical projects include jack-up vessel assessments, Variable Deck Load studies, vessel upgrades and conversions, class consultancy, transport & installation studies, local and global structural integrity assessments, site-specific assessments, and tailor-made engineering solutions for offshore wind and marine civil construction projects.
As a growing team of specialists, we are looking for someone who will help shape our future and become a key contributor to our continued success.
A glimpse of your responsibilities:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their challenges and translating them into practical engineering solutions
Set up and drive the project plan, ensuring structure, momentum, and clear milestones to fulfill the agreed timelines
Stay ahead of the curve by spotting technical risks early and coordinating mitigation actions
Align and coordinate engineers and designers so decisions are clear and work stays consistent
Contribute actively to the concept phase by gathering and structuring multidisciplinary input
Translate concepts and sketches into sound engineering calculations, reports, assessments and design solutions
Ensure consistent quality by reviewing engineering deliverables against TWD standards and client expectations
Act as the point of contact for technical questions after delivery, ensuring clear answers and consistent quality
What Makes You Great
You have a passion for naval architecture, a structured mindset and a talent for planning and organization. You naturally take ownership, maintain oversight and help teams stay focused on the right priorities. While you have a solid naval architecture foundation, you are equally interested in coordinating people, managing stakeholders and guiding projects to successful completion.
You are excited by working in a small and highly specialized team where flexibility, initiative and collaboration are essential. You're not looking to become just another engineer in a large organization; you want to help build a growing team and leave your mark on challenging offshore and maritime projects. You are comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and enjoy taking responsibility for both technical and project-related decisions.
An interest in jack-up vessels, offshore construction methods and vessel upgrades is highly valued. Experience in these fields is a plus, but curiosity and motivation to develop into a recognized specialist are just as important.
You are the perfect match for TWD if you also have the following skills and experience:
3-5 years of relevant working experience in shipbuilding or in the offshore industry.
Experience with ship structural design and verification (FEA) and floating stability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
A master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology or Offshore Technology is strongly preferred. Candidates with a background in Structural or Mechanical Engineering and demonstrable maritime experience are also encouraged to apply.
